About Batik Palas

Licuala spinosa, the Mangrove fan palm, is a species of palm in the genus Licuala. The plant is native to the wet places of fresh and salt water Southeast Asia. It may grow in clumps, loves the hot sun and lots of water. A Terengganu name for Licuala Spinosa is Palas, here it's leaves are used wrap food like "Ketupat" and "Lepat". Batik Palas is made from two Batik Brasses. The "Palas" Batik Motif is an evergreen palm in different clumps and stem. Each stem is topped by a crown of large leaves with prickly petioles.It's design is ornamental, symbolic, our third motif from our Penawar 2023 Batik Collection!
