About Batik Mimu
It is important to understand that flowers hold a profound and enduring significance in Malay art and culture. In the days of the Old Malay Kingdom, gardens were not merely places of beauty — they were sacred realms, guarded with utmost care and regarded as spaces imbued with spiritual depth. These gardens were often restricted, accessible only to chosen ones. Within the garden, flowers were arranged with intention and hierarchy: each section dedicated to specific types of blooms, each carrying its own meaning, symbolism, and prestige.
With this heritage in mind, we present to you a new Batik motif called Mimu. The design unfolds a composition of swirling, entwined blossoms that appear to dance in a gentle yet constricting motion — a vision of a hidden, secret garden, where every petal carries a secret and every curve is a form of protection.
Mimu is like a sacred garden that shields its treasures from the outside world. Within its barriers lies a quiet narrative of beauty preserved, heritage safeguarded, and tradition expressed in the language of flowers.
