For thousand of years, the human hand has dugged from the ground and fashioned it into objects of beauty and necessity. Human explores and finds a sense of tranquility in places, memories, in people and in nature. For us, as Batik Artisans we find a certain kind of beauty in traditional art forms and what lies in the offerings and interpretations of flower language as an enduring appeal in life. Flowers are the essence and inspiration to our art and our latest collection features a new family of flowers of mesmerizing, true beauty located by the seashore of Pantai Sauh, Terengganu. In our latest homage to heritage, Nysakapas presents "LIKU" 2024 Batik Collection, reviving the art of Traditional Batiks in timeless Batik Motifs handcrafted in our Kampung Serada Studio, Terengganu this year. 

Batik Widuri

The "Crown Flower" or scientifically known as the Calatropis Gigantea is a large shrub growing 13 feet tall, is a local plant found on our seashores. It has clusters of waxy flowers that are neither white nor lavender in colour with pointed petals and a small "crown" rising from the centre which hold the stamens. The aestivation found in Calatropis Gigantea is valvate; petals in a whorl just touch each other without overlapping. The plant has oval, light green leaves with a strong, milky green stem.

A powerful plant used as folk medicine in many other countries like India and floral arrangements in Thailand. This flower is favoured by the Hawaiian Queen, who considered this plant as a symbol of royalty and wore them strung in a garland. 

In Indonesia and Malaysia it is known as "Widuri"

Handblocked and Handpainted using the Traditional Method of Hot Wax and Batik Dyes. All handmade Batiks are made by our Young Nysakapas Artisans in Kampung Serada,Terengganu,Malaysia

Cotton Poplin Range 

Our Cotton Poplin range is simply easy to wear. The Cotton is soft, crispy as well as durable. Ironing and washing made easy, handblocked batiks using this fabric can be made into all kinds of clothing, sarongs and interior purposes such as tablecloths, runners, pillowcases and even bags! Great for kids too!

Understanding our Batik products

1. Please understand that our products are handmade, hand dyed and handpainted in Kampung Serada, Kuala Terengganu.

2. Products sold by Nysakapas may or may not contain natural and unnatural defects due to the natural environment of Kampung Serada and techniques of batikmaking such as unevenness in colour tones, lines and spots. If you are not satisfied with the products you received, do contact us through our email [email protected].

3.Our dyes are made in different batches. The results in colouring are not the same and may vary as much as 30% from one colour to the other.

4.We aim to produce good quality batiks and hope that you may consider the imperfections of the works of our art.
